From the December 2002 issue of Uncut...
The Bigger Lovers
Pick of the crop is the sophomore release from Philadelphia's The
Bigger Lovers. Honey in the Hive is grounded in mod pop-rock yet comes
in the most Technicolor of dreamcoats, so that the Kinksy "A Simple How
Are You?" and Small Faces-ish "Bought Your Ghost" taste as fresh as
tossed salad. Faultless harmonies and ass-whuppin' power chords turn
the likes of "Make Your Day" (Tim Burgess fronting early Who) and
"Minivan Blues" (a distant hard-rockin' cousin of David Cassidy's
'Daydreamer') into one long adrenalin surge. - Rob Hughes
